Snorkeling at the Similan Islands or at Surin Islands
Absolutely unforgettable snorkeling trips to two of the best known snorkeling places in the world are, hands down, Surin and Similan Islands National Parks. Let’s start with the most well-known destination; The Similan Islands National Park. Similan means nine in Yawi, and yes, you guessed it, there are nine islands at the Similans. In 1982 the Royal Thai Forestry Ministry turned the Similan Islands into a national park.
Koh Surin National Park consists of five Islands which are are located north of the Similans, in the Andaman Sea, about 60 km west from the Thai main land. Surin Islands are usually sought by many returning visitors to the Khao Lak area, most of them have already been to the Similan Islands, and are now more adventurous.
Both trips to the Surin and the Similan Islands are highly recommended for people of all ages; couples, families with children, groups. If you are in a large group we can arrange for special treatments such as own minibuses and if large enough we can also organize for you to have your own boat for the day.
Whether you are going to the Similan Islands or to the Surin Islands the pickup process is pretty much the same; you get picked up by a minibus early morning at the front of the hotel you are staying at. Taken to the pier where you board the speed boats that take you to the islands. After snorkeling, having lunch, and more snorkeling you will be sailed back to the pier, and back to where you are staying in the Khao Lak area.
